Dr. Vipan Kumar currently serves as the Chief Scientist at CSIR-NIScPR, New Delhi, where he also leads the Energy, Environment, and Sustainability Division. He is a Professor and Head at the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). With over 20 years of experience at CSIR-NIScPR, Dr. Vipan Kumar has significantly contributed to advancing research in science communication, sustainability, and policy. Dr. Vipan Kumar holds a Ph.D. in Technology Management from the TERI School of Advanced Studies, a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, and a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh. His areas of expertise include science and research management, data analysis, energy policy, sustainability frameworks, and advanced computational tools such as MATLAB. Dr. Vipan Kumar's career also features substantial international experience through prestigious roles and fellowships. He was a Global Young Faculty Fellow with the Volkswagen Foundation, Germany (2010-2011), a DAAD Scholar at Humboldt University, Berlin (2016), and a Research Fellow at the German Development Institute and GIZ. He also served as a Consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the area of green skills development and authored country reports for India for year 2011 and 2018. He also did a research internship at the South Centre, Geneva. Before his tenure at CSIR-NIScPR, Dr. Vipan Kumar was a Scientist at CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), contributing to cutting-edge aerospace research. His diverse career reflects a unique combination of research excellence, policy expertise, and global collaboration, establishing him as a thought leader in sustainability, energy, and technology management. Through his interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Kumar continues to address complex challenges in sustainable development, integrating science, technology, and societal impact.
